Pavel Raikerus (Piano)
Pavel Raikerus graduated from the St Petersburg State Rimsky-Korsakov
Conservatoire as well as undertaking a postgraduate study there (class of
Alexander Sandler). Trained at the Carl Maria von Weber Hochschule für Musik in
Dresden.
In 1998 St Petersburg TV produced the film And I Emerge from Space... about
Raikerus, and in 2003 and 2005 Germany’s Deutsche Welle released films about the
young musician. One of them was broadcast on the Euro News channel in its
culture section. In June 2006 Raikerus was specially invited by the Kennedy
Center to represent Russia’s higher music education institutions at the annual
American Academy of Achievement International Summit in Los Angeles (USA).
In 2000 he was a prize-winner at the International Prokofiev Young Pianists’
Competition (1st prize, Russia). The same year, he won the prize of the cultural
foundation Pro Europa (Denmark). He has been a prize-winner at the International
Szymanowski Piano Competition (1st prize, Poland, 2001), the International
Rubinstein Competition (Germany, 2003), the International Paderewski Competition
(2007) and the XXI Spanish Composers international competition (Madrid, 2010)
and one of the winners in 2012 at the Federative International Competition of
Chamber Duos in Katrineholm (Sweden).
As a chamber musician he appears with Viktor Tretyakov, Sergei Roldugin, Ilya
Ioff and Alexei Massarsky. Collabosates with such conductors as Vasily Sinaisky,
Alexander Dmitriev, Alexander Titov, Vladislav Chernushenko, Alexander
Chernushenko, Vladimir Ponkin, Igor Verbitsky, Alexander Sladkovsky, Hobart
Earle and Walter Proust.
Regularly tours internationally. Hass appeared at the Louisiana Museum
Concert Hall (Copenhagen), the Concertgebouw in Amsterdam, the Musikhalle in
Hamburg, the Semperoper in Dresden, the Konzerthaus in Berlin, the Rudolfinium
in Prague, the Auditorio Joaquín Rodrigo in Madrid, the Bilbao Philharmonic, the
Sala Piatti in Bergamo, the St Petersburg Philharmonic, the Mariinsky Theatre,
the Moscow Conservatoire and the Moscow Philharmonic.
Has appeared at the festivals Arts Square, the Mariinsky Theatre’s
International Piano Festival, Prague Spring, Drei Klang, Liszt Kunstfest,
Schubertiade, Young Euro Classic and the International Festival in Dubrovnik. In
2013 as part of The Path to “Le Sacre du printemps” marking one century since
the premiere of Stravinsky’s ballet he appeared at the opening of the Stravinsky
Estate Museum in Ustilug. That same year he performed as a soloist in an
anniversary concert tour by the Faroese Symphony Orchestra.
Teaches the class of special piano at the Middle Special School of Music of
the St Petersburg State Conservatoire. For several seasons he has been a guest
teacher at the Music High School in Daejeon (South Korea). Gives master-classes
in Russia and internationally. Raikerus’ pupils have frequently been
prize-winners at Russian and international competitions.
