The theater named after V.F. Komissarzhevskaya was formed in Leningrad on October 18, 1942 as the “City Theater”. Since the autumn of 1944, it was called the Leningrad Drama Theater. Later, in 1959, the theater received the name of Faith Feodorovna Komissarzhevskaya.
St. Petersburg is the cradle of the famous Russian ballet created by Marius Petipa in the 19th century. There are many famous state theaters in St. Petersburg such as Mariinsky and Mikhailovsky. Unfortunately, these theatres very rarely go on tour outside Russia, therefore very few ballet lovers of the world are able to see the famous St. Petersburg ballet.

There is no strict dress code for the St. Petersburg Ballet Theatre. Casual dress is accepted, for example you can wear jeans if you want. The only dress that are not allowed are shorts and T-shirts.
