Music Hall Classical Ballet Theatre SCHEDULE for Music Hall Classical Ballet Theatre 2022
The Saint-Petersburg State Academic Leonid Yacobson Ballet Theatre is a one-of-a-kind ballet company, and the only theatre in the world to have a repertoire that celebrates the diverse heritage of Leonid Yacobson, a remarkably talented choreographer of the twentieth century.
It was Leonid Yacobson who brought the company together, and to this day, many of his unique ballet productions can only be seen here, at this theatre. The ballet master's choreography is passed on to every new generation of dancers with all of its nuances completely preserved, and every facet of his original artistic concepts gets fully developed — for the theatre's teachers and tutors once had the honour of performing under Yacobson's guidance at the dawn of his ballet company.
Since 2011, the theatre's activity has been managed by art director Andrian Fadeev, Honoured Artist of the Russian Federation, who builds upon the heritage of the Russian ballet's academic traditions. He believes that his main tasks are to ensure that Leonid Yacobson's best-known choreographic works are carefully preserved in the theatre's repertoire; to revive the master's less renowned creations; to continue sustaining and honing the traditions of classical ballet; and to expand the theatre's repertoire, covering diverse areas of classical and modern choreography.
Today, the theatre is proud to present a large number of Leonid Yacobson's choreographic masterpieces, including Rodin; The Bedbug; The Wedding Cortège; Spartacus; various lyrical miniatures and genre scenes; world-famous classical ballets, such as Giselle, Swan Lake, and The Nutcracker; and modern choreography shows.
The theatre's dancers perform at the city's top venues, take part in international festivals, and often share the stage with world-class ballet stars. The company has been honoured with the Golden Mask National Theatre Award and the Golden Soffit Saint-Petersburg Theatre Award.
