Located in a historic 19th-century building just 750 meters (a 9-minute walk) from the Bolshoi Theatre, the Stanislavsky and Nemirovich-Danchenko Music Theatre offers audiences a unique opportunity to enjoy a performance by world-class opera singer Hibla Gerzmava in an intimate and elegant setting. This concert is dedicated to Victory Day. On May 10, the Stanislavsky and Nemirovich-Danchenko Music Theatre will host a concert dedicated to Victory Day.
“Somewhere Far Away, in My Memory” is an original program by Hibla Gerzmava and Oleg Akkuratov, woven from beloved and cherished songs of the 1940s–70s. It is a luminous, at times melancholic recollection of the past — a nostalgic immersion into the music of a bygone era. The program features “Cranes” by Yan Frenkel, “Dark Night” by Nikita Bogoslovsky, “Smuglyanka” by Anatoly Novikov, “Tenderness” by Alexandra Pakhmutova, and many other compositions now considered part of the “golden treasury” of our musical culture.
The program, which premiered on May 8, 2022, at the Stanislavsky and Nemirovich-Danchenko Music Theatre to great success and warm audience acclaim, was born out of the artists’ personal memories. As Hibla Gerzmava herself says: “These are the songs of my grandmother and my mother — I grew up with them; they were heard in our home throughout my childhood. They carry the genetic memory of several generations. They are exquisite, pure, beautiful songs.” The arrangements were created by Oleg Akkuratov at the singer’s request — “with a touch of jazz, fresh and stylish.” Hibla was deeply impressed: “I am thrilled with Oleg! An extraordinary, talented, and sensitive musician, a brilliant pianist. Without him, our program would hardly have achieved such success.”
The duo captivates with the sincerity of their performance and the openness of their emotions, while Hibla Gerzmava’s vocal brilliance and heartfelt warmth allow her to “place every performed piece directly into the hearts of the audience.” (Literaturnaya Gazeta, August 2022).
