Domingo Hindoyan (Conductor)

As one of today's most exciting young conductors, Domingo enjoys a vibrant career leading internationally acclaimed ensembles, including The Philharmonia Orchestra, Polish National Radio Symphony Orchestra, Mozarteumorchester Salzburg, Orchestre Philharmonique de Radio France, St. Petersburg Philharmonic, New Japan Philharmonic Orchestra, Orchestre de la Suisse Romande, Orchestre de Chambre de Lausanne, Orchestre Philharmonique Royal de Liège, and Simón Bolívar Symphony Orchestra.

Starting from September 2019, Domingo Hindoyan will serve as Principal Guest Conductor of the Polish National Radio Symphony Orchestre (NOsPR) for an initial period of three seasons.

In the 2017/18 season, Domingo conducts renowned symphony orchestras such as the Dresden Philharmonic, Hamburg Symphony, Orchestre National de Bordeaux Aquitaine, Orchestre National de Belgique and Malmö Symphony Orchestra. Equally busy on the opera stage, Domingo makes his debut at the Metropolitan Opera (L’elisir d’amore), Oper Stuttgart (Tosca), Semperoper Dresden (La traviata) and Opéra de Monte-Carlo (I puritani). He returns to Deutsche Staatsoper Berlin to conduct La traviata and Orfeo ed Euridice.

Recent highlights include engagements with Orchestre National de France, The Philharmonia Orchestra, Mozarteumorchester Salzburg, Orchestre Philharmonique du Luxembourg, Festival de Radio France et Montpellier, Deutsche Radio Philharmonie, Polish National Radio Symphony Orchestra, Staatsphilharmonie Rheinland-Pfalz, Simón Bolívar Symphony Orchestra, and new productions at both Opéra National de Lorraine (Semiramide) and Bergen National Opera (Il turco in Italia).

In 2013, he was appointed as the first assistant to Daniel Barenboim at the Deutsche Staatsoper Berlin. Since then, he has become a prominent guest conductor in the house, having conducted a vast array of works including La traviata, Tosca, L’elisir d’amore, La bohème, Il barbiere di SivigliaThe Rake's ProgressOrfeo ed Euridice and The Rite of Spring (ballet).

In 2012, he was invited to join the prestigious Allianz International Conductor’s Academy, where he worked with the London Philharmonic and The Philharmonia Orchestra, under conductors Esa-Pekka Salonen and Sir Andrew Davis, as well as masterclasses with Bernard Haitink.

Domingo was born in Caracas, Venezuela. He began his music studies as a violinist and member of the renowned Venezuelan musical education program El Sistema. He went on to study conducting in Europe at the Haute Ecole de Musique de Genève with Professor Laurent Gay.
