Anastasia Voltchok (Piano)

“Anastasia Voltchok is a representative of the great Russian pianistic tradition. Her playing is powerful, vigorous and volcanic. Not only does her technique appear to be boundless but it seems that Richter’s spirit is in the hall.” Rocco Zacheo, Le Temps

Born in Moscow to a family of professional pianists, Anastasia Voltchok began her piano studies at age four. Since her orchestral debut with a Haydn piano concerto at age eight, she has performed extensively throughout Western and Eastern Europe and the United States. The pianist studied under Yevgeny Malinin and Larissa Dedova at the Moscow Tchaikovsky Conservatoire, and subsequently under Rudolf Buchbinder at the Musik-Akademie in Basel and Santiago Rodriguez at the University of Maryland in the USA (Doctor of Musical Arts).
This season, Anastasia Voltchok appeared as a soloist with Valery Gergiev and the Mariinsky Orchestra, Mario Venzago and the Indianapolis Symphony Orchestra and Mikhail Pletnev and the Bamberger Symphoniker. As a recitalist she has performed at New York’s Lincoln Center, Zurich’s Tonhalle, Rome’s Accademia Nazionale Santa Cecilia and Geneva’s Victoria Hall. She has been a guest artist at the Moscow Easter Festival, La Roque d’Anthéron Piano Festival in France, and the Arturo Benedetti Michelangeli Piano Festival in Bergamo and Brescia, Italy.
Highlights of the current season include collaborations with Mikhail Pletnev, Mario Venzago, John Neschling, Michał Nesterowicz and Dennis Russell Davies.
The pianist has been a prize-winner at several international competitions. She won 1st prize at the International Piano Competition in Senigallia (Italy) and 1st prize and the Gold Medal at the International World Piano Competition in Cincinnati (USA, 2003). Anastasia Voltchok’s performances have been broadcast by Swiss National Radio, RAI TV (Italy) and France Musique as well as by various broadcasting corporations in Russia, the United Kingdom, Germany and the USA.
Anastasia Voltchok has recorded for NOVALIS (Schubert/Liszt, Prokofiev) and for GENUIN (Chopin, Schumann, Rachmaninoff). The release of Bach’s Goldberg-Variations is planned for spring 2014.
