Alexei Lobikov (Trombone) Alexei Lobikov was born in Leningrad. Graduated from the St Petersburg State Rimsky-Korsakov Conservatoire (class of Viktor Sumerkin) where he also undertook an assistant traineeship.
From 2006 he was leader of the trombone section of the St Petersburg State Academic Cappella Symphony Orchestra. Since September 2012 he has been a soloist with the Mariinsky Orchestra. Prize-winner at the International Mravinsky Youth Competition in St Petersburg (1st prize, 2006), the International Rimsky-Korsakov Wind Instrument Musicians' Competition in St Petersburg (1st prize, 2008), the Lions Club music competition for trombonists in Tampere (Grand prix, 2009) and the competition of the Prague Spring international music festival (3rd prize, 2011).
Has taken part in master-classes conducted by the world's leading trombonists, among them Chris Houlding, George Wiegel, Jacques Mauger, Ian Bousfield and Jean Rafard.
Frequently appears in concerts as a soloist and as a participant in chamber ensembles. Since 2006 he has taken part in concert programmes of the St Petersburg House of Music.
