Nikita Vaganov (Clarinet)
Nikita Vaganov was born in Moscow
in 1988. He began to study the clarinet at the age
of seven at the Rostropovich Children’s School of Music
(classes of Vladimir Tupikin and Andrei An-dreyev). He continued his
professional educational at the Gnessins’ State Music College under
Vladimir Ferapontov, a Bolshoi Theatre soloist and Honoured Artist
of Russia, and later at the Musikhochschule Lьbeck
(Ger-many) under Professor Reiner Wehle. In 2010–2011 he continued his
studies at the Real Conservatorio in Madrid (Spain) under Adolfo
Garcйs. Since 2012 he has been a student at the Musikhochschule
Stuttgart (class of Professor Norbert Kaiser). Has taken part
in master-classes given by such maestri as Sabine Meyer, Eduard
Brunner, Vicente Alberola and Sergio Bosi. The musician has been
a prize-winner at several competitions, among them the Moscow
Young Clarinettists and Wind Ensembles’ Competition
in the category “Clarinet Quartet” (1st prize, 2003),
the I All-Russian Clarinettists’ Competition (1st prize,
Moscow, 2003), the Possehl young performers’ competition
(1st prize, Lьbeck, 2009) and the Lion’s Club
young woodwind performers’ competition (1st prize, Stuttgart,
2012). In 2011, together with students from the Musikhochschule Lьbeck
he founded the Cascade wind sextet, which was a prize-winner
at Germany’s Inter-School Student Competition in the category
“Chamber Ensemble” (2nd prize, Dusseldorf, 2012). Nikita
Vaganov is a grant-recipient of Nikolai Shilin’s Russian foundation
Our Culture and Legacy as well as German foundations supporting
young per-formers including those of Oscar and Vera Ritter
and Maria Luisa. The performer has collaborated with various youth
orchestras and festivals including the IRO International Youth
Orchestra (Ochsenhausen, Germany), the Baltic Youth Orchestra directed
by Kristjan Jдrvi, the Verbier Festival Orchestra (Switzerland)
and the Oberstdorfer Musiksommer festival (Germany). Since
2013 he has been a soloist of the clarinet section
of the Mariinsky Orchestra.
