Daniel Pollack (Piano) "Daniel Pollack is one of the few remaining pianists today with a sublime link to the golden age of pianism." New York Times. Pollack began his studies at the age of four and made his debut with the New York Philharmonic at the age of nine, performing the Chopin Piano Concerto No. 1. He is a graduate of the Juilliard School from the class of the legendary Rosina Lhe`vinne, herself a graduate of the Moscow Conservatoire.
Highlight appearances as soloist with major orchestras include the New York Philharmonic, Moscow State Philharmonic and London`s Royal Philharmonic among others.
Pollack has performed solo recitals at the world`s major music venues, among them London`s Royal Festival Hall, Vienna`s Musikverein, Amsterdam`s Concertgebouw, Moscow`s Large Philharmonic Hall and New York`s Carnegie Hall.
Pollack is much in demand on international competition juries. He first garnered the music world`s attention when he became a prize-winner at the International Tchaikovsky Piano Competition in Moscow. Subsequently he performed in concert throughout the former Soviet Union and became the first American to record there for the Melodiya label. Later, these were re-issued worldwide under several different labels.
Among other international releases are Pollack`s Grammy-nominated CD of the complete solo piano works of Samuel Barber.
