Sergei Semishkur (Tenor)

Sergei Semishkur was born in Kirov. Graduated from the Nizhny-Novgorod State Glinka Conservatoire in 2003 (faculties of choral conducting and academic vocals).The same year he joined the Mariinsky Academy of Young Singers. Since 2007 he has been a soloist with the Mariinsky Opera Company.

The singerís repertoire also includes the roles of Charles VII (The Maid of Orleans), Fenton (Falstaff), Ubaldo (Armida and Rinaldo), Ferrando (Così fan tutte) and the tenor roles in Mozart, Berliozí Requiem, Haydnís oratorio The Seasons and Nelson Mass, Schubertís Mass in G Major, Rossiniís Stabat mater, Mahlerís Eighth Symphony, Rachmaninoffís The Bells and Stravinskyís Les Noces.

Sergei Semishkur has taken part in various opera festivals around the world including festivals in Savonlinna and Mikkeli (Finland), the Salzburg Festival (Austria), the Edinburgh Festival (Scotland) and the Red Sea Festival in Eilat (Israel). 
The singer frequently performs on tour, appearing at the worldís most prestigious concert venues, among them Carnegie Hall in New York, the Kennedy Center in Washington, the Millennium Centre in Cardiff, the Barbican Hall in London, the Royal Opera House in Stockholm, the Opéra Bastille in Paris, the Teatro Real in Madrid and the Deutsche Oper in Berlin. 
In 2006 Sergei Semishkur took part in a production of the opera La Bohème at the Opera House in Warsaw, performing the role of Rodolfo. In 2007 the singer began to collaborate with the Salzburg Festival where he took part in a production of the opera Benvenuto Cellini, performing the title role. 
In the 2009-2010 season Sergei Semishkur took part in performances of Verdiís Requiem with Bryn Terfel and the Mariinsky Theatre Orchestra in Cardiff and with René Pape and the Munich Philharmonic Orchestra in Munich (conducted by Valery Gergiev). 
In 2010 Sergei Semishkur performed in a recording of the opera The Nose by the Mariinsky Theatre which received a Grammy nomination. 
The singerís discography includes recordings of the operas Oedipus Rex (Oedipus Rex), The Nose (the Nose) andDas Rheingold (Froh) as well as Berliozí Requiem and Mahlerís Eighth Symphony, which was recorded together with the London Symphony Orchestra.
