Alexander Buzlov (Cello)

Alexander Buzlov is one of the brightest and most talented cellists of the young generation of Russian musicians. As New York Times wrote in one of their reviews: "Buzlov is a cellist of true Russian tradition, possessing a great gift to make an instrument sing, bewitching the audience with his sound".

Winning a silver medal and a special prize for the best performance of Tchaikovsky music and also a special prize from the Rostropovich and Vishnevskaya Foundation at the Tchaikovsky XIII International Competition in Moscow in 2007, he became a favorite of not only members of the jury's at different prestigious international competitions, but also music critics and the general public in Russia, America, Europe and Asia.
In October of 2008 he won second prize at the oldest music competition in Europe, 63th International Cello Competition in Geneva.

His first Grand Prix, "Mozart 96",  Alexander Buzlov won in Monte Carlo at the age of 13. A year later, the musician was awarded a Grand Prix at the competition "Virtuosos of the XXI century" in Moscow. Also in 1997 he performed at the concert in the Great Hall of the Moscow Conservatory dedicated to the 70 th anniversary of Rostropovich.

Alexander Buzlov is winner of international competitions Young Concert Artist in Leipzig, Germany (First Prize, 2000) and Young Concert Artist in New York, (First Prize, 2001), the First Open all-Russia contest "New Names" (Grand Prix in nominations cello and chamber ensemble , Moscow, 2000), winner of the Youth Award "Triumph" (2003), 35 th International Competition JEUNESS MUSICALES in Belgrade (First Prize and Audience Prize, 2005), and was awarded special prizes: for best performance of Tchaikovsky Pezzo capriciozo the XII International Competition. Tchaikovsky in Moscow (2002), a special prize from Leyda Ungerer at the Pablo Casals cello competition in Kronberg (Germany, 2004). In September 2005 he won second prize at the International Cello Competition ARD in Munich (Germany) - one of the most prestigious music competitions in the world.

The musician has toured extensively in Russia and abroad. Alexander Buzlov frequently appears as a soloist with many of Russia's orchestras, including the  Mariinsky Theater Orchestra, conductor - Valery Gergiev, symphonic orchestra "Novaya Rossiya) - Yuri Bashmet, State Symphony Orchestra of Russia (E. Svetlanov's Symphony Orchestra), conductor - M. Gorenshtey, Russian National Philharmonic Orchestra, conductor - Vladimir Spivakov, the chamber ensemble "Moscow Soloists, conductor - Yuri Bashmet, Munich Chamber orchestra, Bavarian Radio Symphony orchestra, P.I. Tchaikovsky symphony orchestra (BSO) - V. Fedoseev, St. Petersburg Academic symphony orchestra -  Yuri Temirkanov. With conductors Leonard Slatkin, Thomas Sanderling, Maria Eklund, Claudio Vandelli (Italy), Yakov Kreizberg (Germany), E. Tobacco (Bulgaria), M. Inoue (Japan).

As a soloist, he has also performed with many American orchestras, traveled in almost all states of America.
In February 2005, Mr. Buzlov had his debut at the famous Carnegie Hall (Isaac Stern Auditorium) in New York City. In May 2005, a gala benefit performance musicians at Lincoln Center in New York with the orchestra of St. Lukes with American conductor Leonard Slatkin.
Mr. Buzlov constantly participates in many international music festivals such as "Musical Kremlin" (Moscow), "White Nights", "Arts Square" and "Musical Olympus" (St. Petersburg, 2007, 2008) "December Nights" and ArsLonga (Moscow ), music festivals in Usedom in Ludwigsburg (Germany), Festival in Colmar (France), Festival Oleg Kagan in Kreuth (Germany), Festival of Chamber Music of S. Richter, the International Chamber Music Festival in Montpellier (France), Festival "Moscow Autumn", Festival Crescendo (Artistic Director D. Matsuev), Festival "YCA Week at Chanel, Ginza" (Japan), Academy of S. Ozawa (Switzerland). Along with solo concerts, he has been performing chamber music with Russia, American, French, Japanese and other musicians including N. Gutman, Y. Bashmet,  Ko Iwasaki, V. Lobanov, D. Poppen.  He has recodings on TV and Radio of Russia, as well as radio recordings in Germany, Switzerland, France, USA, Austria. In the summer of 2005 a debut cd was released on Delos records with performances of Brahms, Beethoven and Schumann.
Alexander Buzlov was born in Moscow in 1983. He graduated from the special music school by the Moscow State Conservatory of P.I. Tchaikovsky In 2006 he graduated from The Moscow Conservatory (professor N. Gutman) and enrolled in post graduate school. During education A. Buzlov recieved stipendium from mnay international charities: the "Russian Performing Arts Foundation ", M. Rostropovich Fundation, Vladimir Spivakov Foundation, N. Guzik (USA) and many others. His name was entered in the Golden Book of young talents "XX - XXI centuries." Had master-classes with Mstislav Rostropovich, D. Shafran, N. Shakhovskaya, B.Talalay, E. Finke (Switzerland), B. Greenhouse (USA) and other famous musicians. Currently, he teaches at the Moscow Conservatory and is an assistant of professor N. Gutman. Gives master classes in Russia, USA and Europe.
