Irina Churilova (Soprano)

• Recipient of the 1st prize at the International Valeria Barsova Vocalists’ Competition (Sochi, 2008); 
• Silver medallist at Russia’s V and VI Youth Delphi Games in the category “Classical Song” (2006, 2007); 
• Silver medallist at the II International Delphi Games in the category “Classical Song” (2009); 
• Two-times recipient of the Paradise prize of the Novosibirsk division of the Russian Union of Theatre Workers in the category “Best female role in opera” – Iolanta (Iolanta, 2011) and Marguerite (Faust, 2012); 
• Second Grand-prix at the XLIX Concours International Chant de Toulouse (France, 2012); 
• Finalist at Plácido Domingo’s Operalia competition (2013, Verona); 
• Recipient of the 4th prize and Special Award for the best performance of Russian music at the LI International Francisco Viñas Vocalists’ Competition (2014) 
• Recipient of the 1st prize and Audience Award at the Hans Habor Belvedere Competition (2014)

Born in Novosibirsk. Graduated from the Novosibirsk State Glinka Conservatoire (class of Professor Zinaida Didenko). Lead soloist with the Novosibirsk State Academic Opera and Ballet Theatre from 2008. In 2011 she took part in master-classes run by Diane Zola (Houston Grand Opera, USA) and Montserrat Caballé (Zaragoza, participant in the final concert), as well as training under Enzo Ferraro, a vocals consultant for Maria Callas and for the Teatro alla Scala. In January 2012 she was invited by Montserrat Caballé to take part in her anniversary concert (Gran Teatre del Liceu, Barcelona). In September 2012 she won the Second Grand-prix at the XLIX Concours International Chant de Toulouse (France). In April 2013 under the baton of maestro Valery Gergiev she performed the role of Marguerite as part of the premiere cast of a production of Faust at the Mariinsky Theatre. In June 2013 during the Year of Benjamin Britten she appeared in a performance of War Requiem at the Novosibirsk Opera and Ballet Theatre with John Mark Ainsley and the Royal Northern Sinfonia (Great Britain). At the Mariinsky Theatre she performed the role of Tatiana in Yuri Bashmet’s original version of the opera Eugene Onegin (2014). 
Since 2014 Irina has been a guest soloist of the Bolshoi Theatre, making her debut as Agnès Sorel in a concert performance of Tchaikovsky’s opera The Maid of Orleans under the baton of Tugan Sokhiev.

Repertoire also includes: Tatiana (Eugene Onegin), Liza (The Queen of Spades), Agnès Sorel (The Maid of Orleans), Zemfira (Aleko), Urusova (Boyarina Morozova), Katya (The Passenger), Mimì, Musetta (La Bohème), Nedda (I pagliacci), Gerda (The Story of Kai and Gerda) and the soprano roles in Britten’s War Requiem and Bernstein’s Mass as well as chamber vocal lyrics such as Shostakovich’s Seven Romances on Poems of Alexander Blok, Musorgsky’s The Nursery and Respighi’s Il tramonto.

Has toured with the Novosibirsk Opera and Ballet Theatre to South Korea (2009, Seoul Arts Center, Carmen) and Thailand (2010, Bangkok, La bohème). 
Has toured with the Mariinsky theatre to Baden-Baden Festspielhaus in 2015, where she has performed the role of Liza in Tchaikosky’s opera The Queen of Spades.
