Evgeny Akimov was born in 1967 in Leningrad and graduated from the Leningrad Rimsky Korsakov Conservatoire in 1995 (class: Prof. Morozov).
1994 - 2nd prize winner of the International Vocal Competition, St. Petersburg.
1996 - received the Price The Golden Mask in Moscow for his outstanding performance in the role of Nemorino (L‘Elisir d‘Amore) with the Children?s Opera Theatre.
1991 - 1996 - Soloists of the Children?s Opera Theatre Zazerkalye.
Since 1996 - Soloist of the Mariinsky Theatre.
His repertoire includes:
1st Knight (Parsifal), Narraboth (Salome), Froh (Das Rheingold), Count Almaviva (Il barbier di Siviglia), Cassio (Otello), Ottavio (Don Giovanni), Duke (Rigoletto), Edgardo (Lucia di Lammeroor), Rudolfo (La boheme), Alfredo (La traviata), Ferrando (Cosi fan tutte), Bayan (Ruslan and Lyudmila), Indian Guest (Sadko), Holy Fool (Boris Godunov), Prince Vladimir (Prince Igor), Prince (Love for Three Oranges), Mikola (Semyon Kotko), Don Antonio (Betrothal in the Monastery) among others. With the company of the Mariinsky Theatre he performed throughout Europe (including Covent Garden), the United States (Metropolitan Opera House), South America and Japan.
In 1997 he took part in the audio/video recording of Prince Igor and Betrothal in the Monastery with Philips Classics, NHK and Euroarts and in the audio recordings of Boris Godunov, The Tsar?s Bride and Love for Three Oranges and Semyon Kotko with Philips Classics.
Evgeny Akimov was invited to sing at the San Francisco Opera the role of Don Antonio (Betrothal in the Monastery) and with the Los Angeles Philharmonic, under the baton of Esa Pekka Salonen he sang Gusar (Mavra). In March 2002 he will perform with the Helsinki Philharmonic Orchestra under the baton of Esa Pekka Salonen.
Evgeny Akimov has performed with Placido Domingo (Parsifal in Ravello in 1997), with Renato Bruson (Otello in Rimini in 1998), Giuseppe Giacomini (Otello at the Mariinsky Theatre in 1999).
