Veronica Simeoni (Mezzo soprano)

After her classical studies, Veronica Simeoni attended the Conservatoire "Buzzolla" in Adria (Rovigo) and in the 2004 she got the Singing Degree with the best value. In the same year she began to study with Raina Kabaivanska in Verona and in Modena. She also attended master classes and courses organised by prestigious institutions as Aсcademia Chigiana of Siena and State University of Sofia (Bulgary). In 2005 she won the "A. Belli" Competition by the Teatro Lirico Sperimentale of Spoleto. She obtained very good results in other international competitions too: "Spiros Argiris" Competition of Sarzana, where she won the 2nd Prize and Special Prize "Silvano Gemmi"; "Beniamino Gigli Junior" Competition, where she won the 2nd Prize.

From 2000 to 2003 she was member of the Mizar Vocal Quartet, with which she took part in theatrical performances at the Piccolo Teatro in Milan (director Gianfranco de Bosio). In March 2005 she was invited to sing as soloist in Mozart’s Requiem during the tour of the Orchestra Sinfonica Marchigiana conducted by Corrado Rovaris. In the summer 2005 she took part in the international tour of Teatro Lirico Sperimentale of Spoleto in Italy and in Japan (Tokyo National Theatre), singing the role of Cuniza in Verdi’s Oberto, conte di San Bonifacio.

In 2006 she was Mrs. Baggott in Britten’s The Little Sweeper at the Teatro Comunale in Modena.

In February 2007 she portrayed the roles of Frugola (Il Tabarro), Zia Principessa (Suor Angelica) and Zita (Gianni Schicchi) at the Teatro Comunale in Modena, at the Teatro Comunale in Ferrara and at the Teatro Municipale in Piacenza. In May 2007 she sang Verdi’s Requiem with the Orchestra Roma Sinfonietta in Rieti and more recently she appeared as Azucena (Il Trovatore) at the Teatro Lirico Sperimentale in Spoleto. She has just sung Il Trittico (Frugola/Zia Principessa/Zita) in various Italian theatres.

She successfully made her debut in Werther (Charlotte) at the Teatro Vittorio Emanuele in Messina. Successful was also her debut in Rossini’s Stabat Mater at the Teatro alla Scala in Milan. Recently she took part in the production of Samson et Dalila at the Teatro Comunale in Bologna; she sang the role of Jocaste in Oedipus Rex at the Teatro Romano in Trieste conducted by Marcello Panni and directed by Giorgio Pressburger.

She often sings in concert dedicated to vocal chamber music repertoire, performing Lieder such as Wagner’s Wesendonk Lieder, Mahler’s Wunderhorn Lieder and Shostakovich Six poems of Marina Tsvetaeva for contralto and small orchestra. She performed in recital singing Stravinsky’s vocal works at the prestigious Accademia Filarmonica di Bologna.

She just won the First Prize at the Pavarotti International Voice Competition.

Among her future engagements it is worth mentioning concerts at the Teatro alla Scala in Milan and at the Teatro La Fenice in Venice.
