Dmitry Darov (Baritone)
Born in 1971 in Tashkent.
Dmitry Darov graduated from the St Petersburg State Rimsky-Korsakov Conservatoire in 1998. In 2003, he joined the Mikhailovsky Opera. He performed Valentin in Gounod’s Faust, Onegin in Tchaikovsky’s Eugene Onegin, Duke of Buckingham in Alexander Tchaikovsky’s Les trois mousquetaires (productions by Stanislav Gaudasinsky). He also participated in the Russian première of Britten’s Billy Budd, staged by Willy Decker at the Theatre (Novice’s Friend). In 2015, he performed Mizgir in the concert performance of Rimsky-Korsakov’s Snow Maiden (Lel) under the baton of Dmitri Jurowski. Nowadays, at the Mikhailovsky Theatre, he performs leading baritone parts in the operas by Giuseppe Verdi, Giacomo Puccini, Pietro Mascagni, Ruggero Leoncavallo, and Pyotr Tchaikovsky.
