Evgeny Khokhlov (Conductor)
Born in Saint Petersburg, Evgeny Khokhlov graduated from the Rimsky-Korsakov State Conservatory. He subsequently trained with Roman Kofman in 2008, and with Neeme Jдrvi and Paavo Jдrvi in 2009.
Khokhlov has been a conductor of the State Academic Symphony Orchestra of the Republic of Belarus since 2003, the Andreyev Russian Orchestra since 2006, and of the Saint Petersburg Opera since 2008. Khokhlov has been the Guest Conductor at the Rimsky-Korsakov Theater of Opera and Ballet. He also had the honor of making his conductorial debut on the storied stage of the Grand Hall of the Saint Petersburg Philharmonic in 2006.
As a participant in the highly selective master class of Roman Kofman, Khokhlov had the pleasure of conducting the renowned Beethoven Orchestra of Bonn in 2008. In addition to his work in Minsk and Saint Petersburg, 2009 saw Khokhlov conduct both the National Youth Symphony Orchestra and Youth Chamber Orchetra of Estonia. He continues to regularly lend his talents to a wide array of competitions and festivals in Saint Petersburg ("Art Modern," "From the Avant-garde to Our Time," "The Andreyev Orchestra and its Friends") and in Minsk ("The Musical Springtime of Belarus"), and frequently collaborates with contemporary composers in Russia and Belarus, where he recently completed a series of recordings with the Belarussian State Television and Radio Company.
